We have launched the Tangible Memories project with Libraries Unlimited at Barnstaple Library.

This inter-generational project brings young and older people together, to create books about the older person’s life. Working in pairs, over several sessions, the participants will create a book based on their memories or stories, using the Tangible Memories app. This app allows users to create books containing photos, text and audio recordings. When printed, each page can be scanned using an iPad to hear recordings in the book. The app was designed to increase well being in older people by assisting them with telling their life histories.

Tangible Memories with Stand and Stare Collective - Make a Book, every Thursday until 29th March 2018, Barnstaple Library Part of the Arts Council England funded project, Unlimited Potential, run by Libraries Unlimited at Barnstaple Library This innovative project brings young and older people together in libraries to create interactive memory books.

The Launch day was a great success providing a chance for the pairs to connect, understand the app and begin conversations!

Barnstaple library is an accessible and neutral setting for the pairs to meet and we will be working with the libraries' FabLab team to create a bookshelf designed by the participants, that will house the finished books at the end of the project.
