Theatre Jukebox presents A World Elsewhere - at the RSC until 2nd April

Swan Theatre Foyer, Stratford-Upon-Avon, from 7th Jan – 2nd April 2013.

A brand new Theatre Jukebox curation commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company that uses material and inspiration from the current season, A World Elsewhere, and the RSC Collection and Archive.

It explores changing ideas in astronomy during Shakespeare and Galileo’s lifetimes, and reveals the impact of a magnificent new star that appeared in the night sky when they were both just eight years old.

How might this star, and the changes it brought about, have influenced Shakespeare and his work?

‘I suddenly and unexpectedly beheld near the zenith an unaccustomed star with a bright radiant light.
— Tycho Brahe, 1573
